Internship in Ophthalmology 1. Internships in ophthalmology are part of the teaching activities at the Higher School of Ophthalmology. The main goal of this program is to provide ophthalmologists with training reinforcement in specific areas and it consists of: a. Attendance as observers at surgical procedures performed at the Barraquer Clinic or the Ocular Surgery Institute (I.C.O). b. Attendance as observers at the I.C.O. patient visits. c. Attendance at the Library. 2. Interns spend a maximum of on month in the program. There is no grant and the intern pays for living expenses outside the Clinic. The Refractive Surgery Internship does not include practical training in refractive techniques. 3. At the end of the program, interns receive a Certificate of Attendance. No diplomas are awarded. 4. Application requirements: a. A degree that authorizes the candidate to practice medicine and surgery. b. Having trained for at least three (3) years at a recognized Ophthalmology Center. 1. The Ophthalmology Internship application form must be filled and returned together with the certification of specialization in ophthalmology and recent passport-size photograph. Should the applicant not be able to attend the selected internship program on the dates agreed upon, he/she will notify in writing in advance. Failure to comply with the requirement will result in automatic refusal of future applications. |
